This blog post provides a preview of the content the Performance Architects team will discuss during a free, live webinar on Friday, February 8, 2019 at 12:30 PM EST entitled “How to Connect Customer-Managed Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) or OBIEE to a Snowflake Data Warehouse.” Register here to attend the webinar!
Performance Architects recently announced our partnership with Snowflake, a cloud-based data warehousing company. Snowflake advertises its data warehouse as allowing for instant and unlimited scalability, as well as offering storage for structured and semi-structured data.
I’m excited about the Snowflake solution because the database doesn’t require any crazy tuning. The database offers three main components: database storage, query processing and cloud services. These three layers work collaboratively, but can be scaled independently.
To test these capabilities, we connected to a customer-managed version of an Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) instance to a Snowflake data warehouse, which the Performance Architects team found allows for impressive data visualization on top of a high-performance data warehouse. We used an ODBC connection to achieve this connection. Once the connection is established, you can model metadata and use OAC’s visual power on top of this high-performance cloud data warehouse to render your visuals in no time.
During the upcoming webinar, we’ll demonstrate exactly how we did this, as outlined in an earlier blog post on this topic. The process is almost identical for on-premises Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) 12c, and we’ll highlight the similarities and differences in this processes during the webinar as well.
I hope you’ll join us for the live webinar, where we will go into more detail with a demo of the connectivity and see some Oracle dashboards with Snowflake as the back-end data source.
